MHEA president, Mike Redmond, gives an update on BULKEX 2015 and explains the heritage of success it is founded on

logo_bulkexBULKEX 2015 will be the first time we’ve used the world-class Harrogate International Centre (HIC) to stage our combined exhibition programme of displays and seminars. With more than 50 stands showcasing the latest products and innovations from the industry, it provides members and stakeholders with a commercial and technical forum.

The decision to move the annual seminar to the historic spa town in North Yorkshire follows the extraordinary success of past events. Many of our delegates will remember conferences hosted in Manchester, Blackpool

It is undeniable that last year’s seminar was a resounding success. Opened by the ex-Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change, Chris Huhne, who spoke with great insight about the choices facing the government and industries with regard to power generation and the environment.

Papers delivered by our speakers further demonstrated the breadth of subject matter our industry covers and the ongoing relevance of the seminar format to us. We heard from representatives addressing biomass handling and port infrastructures to power generation, Atex issues, and quarrying among others. These presentations provided insight, sparked debate and provided best practice, bringing a tangible benefit to those fortunate to have been in attendance.

MHEA seminars and exhibitions have unsurprisingly built a legacy of popularity, leading to an ever-growing demand from delegates and members for greater exhibition space – and we have responded directly to meet that demand.

The popularity of our seminars and exhibitions demands we continuously review and develop formats that reflect the needs of our members and the industry and this has led us to Harrogate – possibly the largest venue to have hosted us.

The move to HIC for BULKEX 2015, also highlights how the MHEA is responding to the changing needs of our industry and membership. Users and equipment manufactures alike wish to discuss both the finer technical, commercial and international challenges we face. The MHEA has traditionally provided a platform for them but with the move to the HIC, and its first-class facilities, we are providing a venue capable of facilitating those demands and the broader needs of members and attendees.

BULKEX 2015 will be the only bulk material handling event of its type in the UK this year. For users and equipment manufacturers alike the exhibition and conference offers a golden opportunity to listen to highly-regarded professionals that influence our industry while simultaneously visiting an exhibition that promises to include leading suppliers of the technical services and products our industry demands.

The conference will be free to attend for visitors, and an opportunity for attendees to listen to – and meet – some of the major suppliers and users in our industry.

It promises to be our most popular annual seminar yet, and I’m delighted to say that more than 50 exhibitors have lodged expressions of interest with us and some 30 stands have already been booked. Speakers at the event will reflect the diverse industries we serve; from quarrying and cement, to ports, power generation, and steel – making it an unmissable event.

We look forward to seeing you there.
