The Cement Industry Suppliers’ Forum, which aims to develop contact and communication between the cement industry and its suppliers, is holding its 2014 conference in September.
MHEA members support Drax biomass conversion project
Ian Birkinshaw, operations director at Portasilo Bulk Handling Systems, delivered a presentation to delegates at the Bulk2014 conference about a pioneering biomass conversion project at Drax. Drax is transforming itself into a predominantly biomass-fuelled generator through burning sustainable biomass in place of coal. It plans to convert three of its six generating units to burn biomass. The first unit was converted in April 2013.

Cleveland Commissions FFT Shiploader Chute in Callao, Peru
South American company Odebrecht has recently assigned Cleveland Cascades Limited to commission the new Free Fall Telescopic Loading Chute for Muelle Minerales in the Callao region of Peru.The system has been designed to load Lead, Copper and Zinc Concentrates into vessels at rates of up to 2,500 tonnes per hour, and utilises an actuating and rotating trimming spout at the outlet in order to load into hard-to-reach areas of the vessel.
