Eco Hoppers from SAMSON Materials Handling, now with  a low ground pressure feature available

Eco Hoppers from SAMSON Materials Handling, now with  a low ground pressure feature available

The SAMSON Eco Hopper is an ecologically sensitive solution fulfilling all needs for the efficient import of dry bulk cargoes. The hoppers are designed to suit the characteristics and flow properties of effectively any bulk material. All SAMSON Eco Hoppers are fitted with state of the art dust suppression filters for the lowest possible environmental impact benefitting both port operators and the surrounding environment around the port location.

To enhance the product versatility and to accommodate specific customer needs, such as requirement to operate on an old or very narrow quay, SAMSON’s R&D Team have conceptualised a new design for a low ground pressure Eco Hopper.

The successful redesign took effort from management, project leaders and regional sales managers who all provided valuable clients insights and industry trends.

Recently, SAMSON sold the first unit to the port of Slite, Baltic Sea in Sweden. The unite had multiple vital applications on site. Direct benefits from the low ground pressure feature are a reduced overall footprint to perform in restricted areas and lower cost for shipment, both containerised and project cargo.

SLITE is a Medium-sized Port. The types of vessels regularly calling at SLITE are General Cargo (39%), Cement Carrier (10%), Cargo/Containership (9%) and more. This means that the operating ground areas is limited and a versatile mobility equipment is the best fit for long term sustainable investments. Extensive dust control features were required as the plant is close proximity to a housing community, which also included very strict noise limitations that we had to achieved. The limited width of the quay also played a fundamental role. Due to the fact that the machine has to be moved from one part of the quay to another going past some fixed equipment. Lastly we achieved a limited height scope due to the size of the crane.

Furthermore, The SAMSON Low Ground Eco Hopper features lower level access to auxiliary equipment providing easier maintenance, improving shipping options, containerised or project cargo, industry 4.0 software and integrated monitoring as well as Modularisation and standardisation improving supply.

As considerate port equipment manufactures SAMSON Materials Handling took into account both the clients requirement and the surrounding landscape alike. Addressing unanimously all prerequisites concluded in a successful execution of a unique project. In turn this leads to long term sustainable investment from our client as we are absolutely sure this state of the art machine will serve our client for years ahead, regardless of constant changes in port environmental impact laws.

All Samson Materials Handling Eco Hoppers feature the below outlined benefits, functions and characteristics. Dimensions and design may differ from on project to another. Our Equipment is tailored to customer and business needs. We sell solutions, not just equipment!
