Innovation Award Finalists 2025

AViTEQ UK Limited

AViTEQ’s SDE Digital and SFAE Frequency Controllers set a new benchmark in vibration handling by combining simplicity with advanced diagnostics. The SDE offers effortless setup via a web portal, eliminating complex menu navigation and enabling quick parameter uploads through RJ45 or USB. Its portal access capability allows engineers to adjust settings and troubleshoot faults online, backed by detailed fault logs for precise diagnostics. The SFAE complements this with intelligent closed-loop control, energy efficiency, and spring break detection. Together, they minimise downtime, reduce stockholding, and deliver powerful fault-finding tools—driving smarter, more reliable, and cost-effective bulk material handling solution.

NORD GEAR Limited

NORD GEAR is being nominated for its NXD and NXD tupH technologies for the Innovation Award, recognising a breakthrough in surface conversion. Unlike stainless steel or traditional coatings, NXD chemically bonds with substrates, forming a diffusion layer that delivers exceptional resistance to corrosion, chemicals, and abrasion without affecting tolerances. The NXD tupH variant adds a sealing layer, ideal for hygiene-critical sectors such as food and pharmaceuticals. Independent testing confirms compliance with ISO 12944-6 C5-M standards, proving durability in extreme conditions. Delivering reduced downtime, lower cleaning costs, and fewer stoppages. Offering cost-effective, sustainable protection, NXD, a new benchmark in materials handling.

Kingfisher Industrial Limited

Kingfisher Industrial is applying for the MHEA Innovation Award for its Smart Wireless AbrAlarm System, a breakthrough in predictive maintenance. Building on the 1997 AbrAlarm, the new system removes high installation cost barriers by using advanced wireless communication designed for harsh industrial environments. With a five-year battery life and IP65 protection, it monitors up to 100 sensors simultaneously, providing real-time alerts on wear location and failure type. This enables planned maintenance, avoiding breakdowns, dust release, and safety risks. Proven to transmit reliably through steel and interference, it transforms wear detection into a cost-effective, sustainable solution that reduces downtime and improves safety.

Quarry, Plant & Industry Limited

Nominated by Daniel Vincent of Heidelberg Materials, the QPI “Pitstop” Drum solves a major recycling industry issue where magnetic tape and wires caused bearing failures, fire risks, and costly downtime. Unlike traditional drums requiring full removal for repair, its modular design allows quick end-shaft replacement, often in situ. Initially shaftless and validated to withstand 6 tons of force, it was later strengthened with a heavy-duty central tube for wider applications. Its unique “tube within a tube” with spoke-style support eliminates failure points, while large stock enables same-day replacements. With 2,500+ units in operation, it delivers proven safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Technidrive Limited

Technidrive’s Crusher Unblock System is a groundbreaking innovation for the quarrying and aggregate industry, addressing the hazardous and time-consuming task of clearing jaw crusher blockages. Traditionally reliant on risky manual intervention, the process is now automated through advanced motor control and automation technology, enabling safe remote operation, real-time diagnostics, and seamless integration with existing machines. The system reduces maintenance time, increases uptime, and significantly enhances operator safety. Already deployed across five continents, it is transforming industry practice by improving efficiency and eliminating risks. Recognised by partners for effectiveness and long-term value, it sets new safety and productivity standards globally.

Flexible Steel Lacings Limited – FLEXCO

Flexco is applying for the MHEA Innovation Award for its FXC™ Steel Cord Belt Fastening System—the world’s only mechanical fastener for steel cord belts. Designed to reduce downtime and improve safety in mining, FXC™ combines emergency splicing and belt-pulling in one modular, easy-to-deploy system. Unlike slow, resource-heavy traditional methods, FXC™ restores operations in under six hours, cutting costs and boosting resilience. Lightweight and transportable, it is ideal for remote, high-pressure sites while remaining fully compatible with existing infrastructure. Already adopted globally, FXC™ is praised for its speed, reliability, and simplicity, setting a new international standard in conveyor maintenance.
