Cameron Fraser – EBRO Valves Limited

 

Cameron Fraser joined Ebro Valves in 2022 at age 18, choosing an engineering apprenticeship over university. With early exposure to valves through his father’s career and a passion for engineering, he quickly became a dedicated and capable apprentice. Now in his second year at Loughborough Technical College, he has built strong valve assembly and technical skills. Cameron played a key role in a £151,000 project for Endress and Hauser, leading valve testing, documentation, and troubleshooting during factory acceptance tests, earning high praise. Soon progressing to trainee technical engineer, he will also mentor apprentices, showing strong leadership potential and future promise.

Noah Gilmore – SWORD Engineering Limited

 

At 19, Noah Gilmore has become a key asset to SWORD Engineering since starting his apprenticeship in 2023. In just two years, he has developed into a capable engineer, trusted to work independently on installation and maintenance projects. His strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and eagerness to learn have seen him excel, including completing FLT, IPAF and Paint Spraying courses. A valued team player, Noah has also trained colleagues in conveyor assembly and paint processes, showing leadership potential. Delivering results on par with more experienced engineers, he continues to grow, strengthening SWORD’s on-site capacity and demonstrating outstanding future leadership promise.

Emily Grimmett – QPI Limited

Emily has demonstrated exceptional commitment to developing her technical skills and knowledge since joining QPI. Though new to the industry, she regularly attends site with vulcanising teams to gain first-hand engineering experience, showing determination to understand and contribute beyond her sales role. Her enthusiasm, proactive approach, and ability to support and motivate colleagues have quickly made her an integral part of the business. Emily’s willingness to go above and beyond demonstrates genuine dedication to learning the industry from the ground up. Thriving in a traditionally male-dominated field, she is breaking barriers and inspiring others, making her a strong candidate for Young Engineer of the Year.

Thomas Shone – SWORD Engineering Limited

 

Since joining SWORD Engineering as an apprentice in 2023, 21 year old Thomas Shone has made a remarkable impact in the bulk materials handling sector. With a strong work ethic, resilience, and commitment, he has quickly propelled into a highly competent engineer. Trusted to manage on-site tasks without supervision, A team player and natural mentor, he shares detailed machinery build knowledge with new colleagues, accelerating their development. With two years of his apprenticeship remaining, he’s recently achieved additional certifications, including IPAF and FLT, demonstrating his commitment to broadening his skill set and contributing even more value to our operations team.
