ProSpare’s Bulk Team celebrate 10 years of improving conveyors at Hillhead 2026

Hillhead is the UK’s largest quarrying, construction and recycling equipment exhibition. Held every two years in a working quarry, the show brings together 600 exhibitors and nearly 20,000 visitors over three days. This year, as part of ProSpare’s presence at the show, they marked the 10th anniversary of the Bulk Materials Handling Division which made its debut at Hillhead 2016 and has gone on to improve the performance of thousands of belt conveyors throughout UK.

Bulk Materials Handling Specialists

First launched at Hillhead in 2016, ProSpare’s Bulk Materials Handling Division has been improving belt conveyor performance and safety for a decade with leading high-performance cleaning, tracking and sealing equipment including STARCLEAN®, CenTrax and SealTek.

Since the Division’s debut in 2016, they’ve grown to an 11 strong team with 7 expert service engineers, have sold in excess of 2,500 STARCLEAN® belt cleaner units across the UK and have been recognised for excellence at both the MPA Health & Safety awards and Tarmac Innovation Challenge.

Hillhead 2026 – Celebrating 10 years of conveyor improvements

On the first day of Hillhead 2026, ProSpare held a 10th anniversary celebration for the Bulk Materials Handling Division – named BULK TEN. To mark the occasion, they shared specially branded beer and cupcakes with visitors, amongst many other giveaways and live demonstrations of equipment.

Pictured below are ProSpare Directors James, David and Tom Bullock. Alongside Bulk team members, including General Manager Danny Smith, Project Co-ordinator Jan Hajkowski, and three members of the Service Engineering Team, with Manager Alan Bryan, mainstay of the team David “Bunto” Huntington, and latest recruit Micky Eccles.

CEO, James Bullock, commented:

“Through both ConSpare and ProSpare, we have a long history of working with leading equipment and component manufacturers worldwide to bring the best products to the UK. After listening to our customers for decades, we understand the key problems they face. Conveyors were often reported as one of the biggest problem areas on plants, so in 2016, we established our Bulk Materials Handling Division, and we’re delighted with the positive impact that it has made within the industry.

As part of the occasion, my son, Tom, is also celebrating 10 years with the company this year. In his first few years with the business, he played an important role in getting the Bulk Division set up, so it was great to be able to share in the celebration with him.”

David Bullock, Managing Director, echoed James’ comments:

“We’re immensely proud of how far this Division has come in 10 years; we’re fast becoming first-choice for many looking to improve the performance of their conveyors. Danny Smith, who now heads the Division, has done an amazing job leading this great team from strength to strength and we can’t wait to see where we’ll be in another 10 years.”

Always looking forward – introducing STARCLEAN® HD

Although the Division has 10 years under its belt, it’s always looking to bring the latest developments to UK clients, the latest of which was debuted at Hillhead 2026 – the STARCLEAN® HD range.

The HD Heavy Duty range takes all of the innovative features from STARCLEAN®’s blade and tensioner technology and scales it up to meet the demands of the most challenging large-scale conveyors. For example, the 481 polyurethane blade from the HD range is 3.5 times the size of the equivalent from the standard STARCLEAN® range. This robust design makes it perfect for demanding applications, large belts and those carrying the highest tonnages with less frequent adjustments required on these critical belts.

Although new to the show, ProSpare is pleased to report that the range is already performing well across several projects in UK.
