FAIRPORT ACHIEVES CSR MARK OF APPROVAL

Intending to emphasise how the company seeks to work in close co-operation with clients and suppliers alike, in an effectively and adequately resourced manner and is fully accountable for all assignments that are undertaken.

Fairport’s high levels of repeat business, from a wide range of clients, is good testimony to this ethos being successful. It is also valid to note that Fairport performs in accordance with many national and international standards, regulations and codes of practise, as the occasion demands. Being a UK based company the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations are a mandatory part of Fairport’s operations and with a year on year workload that generally includes design & build contracts of major proportions adherence to client quality systems that encompass the requirements of ISO 9000, is the norm rather than the exception. Equally, when acting in an advisory role during the feasibility stages of a project, Fairport works within the internationally recognised JORC and/or VALMIN guidelines for the reporting of the technical assessment of mining projects.

As part of Fairport’s continuing ethos to move forward as a progressive and responsive business, in all aspects of its operations, the opportunity to be assessed on the principles promoted by ISO 26000:Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), was considered to be a positive step forward for the business. The CSR principles underpin good ‘Corporate Citizenship’ and sound business practices, and are a measure by which potential clients can judge and measure who they choose to do business with, both ethically and morally, as well as the normally accepted technical and commercial reasons. Consequently, Fairport has had an evaluation of its CSR activities externally audited and evaluated by Eco Vadis and has recently been awarded a Silver accreditation.

Fairport’s evaluation places it in the top 30% of its specialist sector and achieved an average rating that was over 20% higher than the minimum acceptable standard. In three of the four assessed categories (Environment, Labour Practises and Fair Business Practises) Fairport was rated equal to or better than the sector norm. The Eco Vadis Silver accreditation joins other awards, such as the Avetta accreditation for C(DM) duties, that will underpin Fairport’s modus operandi for the future .
